Charlotte Miller (Charlie) was content to work in her father's woodworking shop. Then she met Joseph a teacher. He lived in a cabin owned by her parents and everything seemed to be rolling toward a long happy life together. Then Joseph's father, a pig farmer, had a stroke. It was necessary for Joseph to move back to rural Indiana and take over his father's swine farm. Did Charlie love him enough to move into a completely different life?

She is very wise and helps Charlie negotiate an emotional territory that is new to Charlie. Charlie moves from a relationship that is complacent to one that involves emotional risk. Joseph is a very responsible individual, but he evokes feelings in Charlie that are difficult to plow through on a first time basis. Joseph clearly knows that his responsibilities lie with his parents and their farm operation. It is a modern swine operation that requires a knowledgeable and intelligent manager. Joseph is uniquely qualified to take over his father's farm, but can the income replace his teacher's salary? Can she give up her career on wood working? Will Charlie follow him on this new adventure.
