The Breakthrough Mind: How to Surprise Your Self - Start to Surprise Your Life is one of Doug’s breakthrough accomplishments.
It is also Doug’s quest to bring high performance and breakthrough innovation into the mainstream of corporate life. As a means to that end, Doug founded the consulting and education firm, INNOVATE, and works internationally with client companies, including, Johnson & Johnson, The Walt Disney Company, AT&T, and DuPont.
Interestingly, The Breakthrough Mind originated from one such client challenging Doug to convey his wisdom on breakthrough to his top 100 managers, the challenge being. “Do it in one hour.” Tackling that from a breakthrough viewpoint, Doug gave the talk serious consideration. “What could I say in one hour that would make a difference? I was not interested in giving an inspirational talk only to be temporarily uplifting.” He committed to impart lasting insights, perspectives and stories which would stick, Velcro points he calls them, giving each of those managers new actions they would try out. On a whim, Doug decided to record that talk, and The Breakthrough Mind was born.
Doug conducts research on leading innovation practices and publishes The Innovators ezine, a source of leading edge innovation from both academic and industry leaders. He is also published in diverse business magazines for his articles on strategy, leadership, and innovation.
