Overview
After a brief love affair, a priest and a nun meet again twenty-five years later. They join forces to expose their Archbishop who has protected priests accused of child molesting. They are met with a diocesan attorney who stops at nothing to destroy them. The inside workings of a dysfunctional diocese is on full display and its clerical culture is reflected in the devious characters who come into play. It is also a romance about love lost and love regained.
Description
An early romance ends leaving Sister Francis desperate. Her lover, Fr. Edward's joins the Navy. She leaves the convent destitute, gets raped, gets pregnant and gets an abortion. Edwards helps her, then disappears from her life. Twenty five years later they meet. Edwards is now a retired Navy Commander. He is the newly appointed pastor in town. When he is assigned to investigate a priest accused of child molesting, he discovers secret files containing credible complaints against priests accused of molesting children that go back fifty years. Shocked, he copies several of the files. Sister Francis, now a successful attorney, renews her friendship with him. He asks her legal help. The diocesan attorney has a dark past and will stops at nothing to protect the Church. The Vicar General is a closet gay who is complicit in the cover-up. The Archbishop has a Mafia brother-in-law and his own secrets. A Priest, Father Lazardo, is a serial molester and a buddy of the attorney who protects him and the Church. A falsely accused priest, who is an x-lover of the Vicar General, commits suicide after he is arrested on false charges on the Bishop's order. The Vicar turns on the Bishop and his attorney plots revenge.

Born Oakland, CA. Grew up in San Francisco, CA BA Liberal Arts, University of S.F. Married. Six kids. Worked as a Navy Pilot, Social Worker, Police Officer, Prison Counselor, Parole Agent, teacher. Retired Prison Administrator. studied five and a half year for the priesthood. Left before ordination. Wrote nonfiction book, "Taming the Beast" Published St Martin's Press, 1998.
