Book details
Overview
If you could have any super power in the world, what would it be? If you could rewrite history, what would you see? Come with us on a journey of imagination.
Picture for a moment if you will, being born with super powers, but not being able to tell your friends. That is the premise of thought for cousins Daewon and Zenobia attending Ellison-Wright High School, trying to navigate their way through classes, exams, teenage crushes, bullies, and other extracurricular activities while also fighting evil.
The Adventures of the Black Phenomenon is a collection of poems written by DeJuan Cuffee and Sharon Evans that tell a coming-of-age superhero story about two cousins in high school, Daewon, a junior, and Zenobia, a freshman, discovering the freedom that comes with being a teenager, while also dealing with innate super powers. Each teenager must grapple with very grown-up life and death situations with major repercussions.
DeJuan (Sultan) and Sharon (Poetic CEO) use words that create worlds. In this saga, they use their unique poetic skills and imagination to paint a picture perfect action-packed poetic story. Their poetic expression puts medicine in a candy wrapper, as the rhymes and stories are entertaining, educational, insightful, and inspirational. Jason Langford once again provides magnificent illustrations throughout the book. Black Sultan Productions leaves an indelible mark on the superhero genre, and refreshingly fitting, the genre will never be the same.
We invite you to come along with us as we take you on another poetic journey of freedom and expression.
