Tails of the Village

More in the series of stories featuring an officer in the fictional 'Imperial Albion Navy'. In this book he is home on extended sick leave and confronting criminal activities that arise close to home. The trouble begins with the mysterious death of a local shopkeeper, comes closer to home with a case of blackmail, and stretches further afield to gangland in the town containing the nearest naval base.

Admiral Humphrey Beckingham-Smythe has come home from the Orient on sick leave after contracting malaria. While home with his young wife and growing family he finds a case of murder in the village, and cannot resist poking his nose into the investigation. After all, he has a history of investigation with customs units. The scenario broadens to include a case of blackmail, too close to home for comfort and investigations into gangland in the nearest big town.

I am the author of four previous adventure stories and murder mysteries. My hobbies include history, naval history and the occult. I live by myself in a flat in Chesterfield in the north of England. Tales is always spelled as 'Tails' in the Humphrey Beckingham-Smythe books as there is always a cat involved somewhere in the story.
