Overview
"Surprise, The Danger is Now" is a coming-of-age novel that follows Sam Cathcart, a young man with paranormal abilities, as he navigates the challenges of life, education, and the complexities of artificial intelligence.
Description
In "Surprise, The Danger is Now," Sam Cathcart isn't your typical child. He has the remarkable ability to communicate telepathically, a skill he shares with a silverback gorilla in the Detroit Zoo. With the gorilla's guidance, Sam hones his talents and begins a journey of self-discovery and empowerment. Despite his unique abilities, Sam faces the same trials and tribulations as any young person. His paranormal abilities add an additional layer of complexity to his journey towards adulthood, particularly as he enters the University of Michigan. The transformation from teenager to young adult is never smooth, but for Sam, it's packed with surprising twists and turns. Sam's life takes an unexpected turn as he delves into the realm of artificial intelligence. Its potential for both good and evil overwhelms him, prompting him to use his telepathic abilities to ensure humanity's safety. Balancing this quest with his academic and social responsibilities is a tough task, but Sam is relentless. "Surprise, The Danger is Now" is a story of growth and resilience. It's a compelling narrative that underlines the strength of the individual in a world increasingly influenced by technology.
About the author
William Stewart is an alumnus of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he embraced both the arts and sciences, majoring in Shakespearean and metaphysical poetry while completing his pre-med coursework. His fascination for balancing the analytical and the creative continues to this day. William's journey took a pivotal turn when he volunteered as a suicide prevention phone operator during graduate school. This experience allowed him to understand the individual's struggles more deeply. William studied podiatric medicine and went on to serve as an Associate Professor in Surgery at the California College of Podiatric Medicine, where he earned a Master's in surgical education. He then transitioned to private practice, where he served for thirty-two years. His long-standing concerns about the potential dangers of unregulated artificial intelligence led him to craft "Surprise, The Danger is Now," a coming-of-age novel serving as a cautionary tale about AI. He currently lives in Arizona with his loving wife and their two dogs.
