Description
Mindy May Millner is the new Storm Queen. Along with her singing partner, Tiger Lilly, they push their new Storm Band to major successes, just as outside forces seek to destroy their relationship. With the Red Queen gone, Mindy May struggles to keep the Storm Band together. It doesn't work. There was only one Red Storm and Mindy will never take her place. According to some. But others are willing to follow a new leader, including Lilly Jones. So, a new, lighter version of Storm Works takes shape under the tenuous guidance of the new, reluctant lead singer, pushed by an aggressive, fast learning, and very talented Lilly. But Lilly's aggressive attentions toward Mindy are more than musical and lead both in an unexpected and dangerous direction. A burned up studio, a company near bankruptcy, an angry Jacqueline Jones wanting her daughter back in school, plus a teen who wants to grow up too fast, drives Mindy to pills and vodka. The remaining loyal members of Storm Works find themselves with yet another lead singer who need propping up, so they unite around their star to give her the confidence she needs to get the band back on the road again. Months of hard work bringing together two unlikely lead singers with the remnants of an award winning band eventually pay off when their new sound takes hold with their old fan base. Cross-country tours, TV specials, a Las Vegas show, and commercial endorsements follow as the fortune of the new Storm Works turns back to award winning gold. The old mob ties are not gone, and Mindy May finds a strange and safe friendship with gangster Tony Russo, and even stranger, her mother is now his steady date. But those public associations do not deter yet another dangerous stalker from turning Mindy's life inside out. Mindy May also has to contend with an even more rebellious Lilly Jones who makes a very public split with her mother and declare herself independent at age sixteen, tattoos a lily up her back, and renames herself Tiger Lilly. The music they make is critically acclaimed, but can Storm Works prevent an implosion as an increasingly self-confident Mindy Millner clashes with the increasingly opinionated and fan favored teen? Will their intense relationship, natural talent, and polished performances keep Storm Works at the top of the pop charts after such a tough battle to rebuild their former reputation? Will the spirit of Amanda Red Storm provide them the guidance they need? STORM THE CITY / book one / RED STORM STORM THE CITY / book two / STORM CLOUDS STORM THE CITY / book three / STORM DAMAGE
About the author
Ed has been writing for most of his life, but not fun stuff. Marketing reports or sales summaries during his retail years. Sit-reps or evaluations during his military years. Or report cards during his teacher years. Nope, not as much fun as letting those voices in his head loose. And that didn't happen until he retired from everything and realized he didn't like playing golf or refinishing furniture. As a teacher, he loved reading the stories his students created and he finally realized it might be fun creating a few of his own. (Duh) During semester breaks (teachers!) he challenged himself to put together some short stories with all the elements he tried to teach his kids. Not so easy. Some of the stories stuck, but stayed in his Big Mac until he retired after 22 years of 11 year-olds. His favorite is obvious. Red Storm grabbed his attention and all the Storm Stories, current and future, involve Amanda Palermo Storm in one form or another. So, hometown New York City is great, but old bones sure appreciate Southern California warmth.
