Overview
Stop Seeking, Start Finding is a handbook to higher spiritual consciousness. It's for people who may have left their churches but are creating a vital, living faith for themselves based on commitments to be of use and stand for justice. Evolutionaries are those who let go of outdated language and ideas, aware that it's with our thoughts we create our lives and the cultures we inhabit. Phillips uses photographs, poems, quotes and reflections to build her case that there is no reason to seek—we are already immersed in the Great Unfolding Divine Mystery. This book shows how the mystical experience is within reach of us all and what magical doors open to those who enter in. Drawing on the voices of visionaries and mystics, poets and philosophers, and her own experience as a spiritual and social activist, Phillips bridges the past with the future through her reflections, poetry and poignant photographs. Stop Seeking, Start Finding is a banquet for the whole being.
Description
Stop Seeking, Start Finding is a handbook to higher spiritual consciousness. It's for people who may have left their churches but are creating a vital, living faith for themselves based on commitments to be of use and stand for justice. Evolutionaries are those who let go of outdated language and ideas, aware that it's with our thoughts we create our lives and the cultures we inhabit. Phillips uses photographs, poems, quotes and reflections to build her case that there is no reason to seek—we are already immersed in the Great Ongoing Divine Mystery. Phillips is a social and spiritual activist who writes, "Biologically, evolution happens to us. But to evolve spiritually, we must engage in the process consciously. It requires our complete participation—body, mind, soul. To evolve our own lives is an act of unremitting attention. It's a commitment to non-duality. It's the supreme performance art, the act of melding into Creation Itself and expressing the truth of our essential Nature." She uses the Book of Hours format, using quotes by spiritual masters in every faith tradition. Her reflections modernize and feminize the passages, while her photos and poems offer other entryways into the experience of spiritual evolution. Her writing is personal, poetic and profound as she draws upon and connects quantum physics, mysticism, and social justice. Phillips' books have been endorsed by Deepak Chopra, Gloria Steinem, Ervin Laszlo, Bishop John Shelby Spong, Barbara Marx Hubbard and a variety of other visionaries.
