Karen Tolchin has been teaching contemporary literature, creative writing, and film at the college level for two decades. She holds degrees from Bryn Mawr College and Brandeis University. Her book, Part Blood, Part Ketchup: Coming of Age in American Literature and Film, was cited in William Safire's New York Times "On Language" column (2007), while her creative work has appeared in The Rumpus. An associate professor of English at Florida Gulf Coast University, Karen was recently named a trustee of Seacrest Country Day School. She lives in Naples, Florida, where she enjoys boating in the Gulf with her son Charlie.
