Description

Born in 1919 to a wealthy family in Shanghai, Gia-fu Feng fled mainland China in 1947 during the Chinese Civil War, beginning a journey that ultimately led him to America and the counter-cultural revolution of the 1960s. "Through reading this beautifully written biography of my late husband Gia-fu Feng, not only have I come to a deeper understanding of who he was, but I also have a new appreciation of the complex events of the middle years of the 20th century, both in China and in the United States. History comes alive when viewed through the life of this one individual living his unique piece of that history." — Jane English, co-creator of Gia-fu Feng's best selling version of Tao Te Ching
