Special Grace Revealed

This book is a true story of seeing God's grace in times of hopelessness and despair. The book's young mother was devastated by a diagnosis of severe mental retardation and cerebral palsy, but over time God brought her to faith and hope. This book follows her journey to abundant life, despite living through many hardships and trials that could have led to despair and loss of hope. God always has a better plan, and He reveals His plan in His perfect time. This is a testimony of God's love for each of us, even in the most trying seasons of life.

"Special Grace Revealed" is the journey of a mother and her love for her severely disabled son. The journey begins with the tragic realization of her child's profound disability and follows the real-life journey written with honest emotions. There were many years of living in anger, fear, and hopelessness. "Special Grace Revealed" is written to encourage others who may be in a crisis in life and a crisis of faith, with no hope for the future. Through the pages of the book, readers will see God's hand in bringing Kathy into an abundant life of faith, but it was a journey. The Bible says, "unless one is born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God" (John 3:3). God's grace is given to anyone willing to accept His love. When a person has been wounded by events of life, it may become difficult to accept God's love. A person questions the goodness of God. We may ask "God, why did you let this happened to my precious baby?" The pain is real and profound, and the anger is destructive. "Special Grace Revealed" is the story of God's love and redemption over a lifetime. It is a testimony of God's love story and His ultimate plan for His beloved. It is a journey to an abundant life of the soul, living for God's purposes and His glory. The story is shared to encourage others who may be walking through a dark valley that seems to have no way out. God loves us with an everlasting love, if only we have the eyes to see it. We can see His love as he reveals Himself to His children when we become born again. A life fully surrendered to God is a life fully set free from despair and hopelessness. With faith we know that when Jesus is all you have, Jesus is all you need.

In May 2020, Kathy was ordained by the Assemblies of God and now serves as Congregational Care Pastor at the Mission Church in Holmes, New York. She is a secretary for the Missions Committee and leads the Pastoral Care team, the Deacon and Benevolence Ministry, and Connect Groups. Pastor Kathy developed the Special Grace ministry for mothers and others who love a child with special needs. She serves as an advocate for individuals with special needs at every opportunity. She has coordinated and served on many foreign and domestic missions with The Mission Church and Joni & Friends Disability Missions. Pastor Kathy retired from a 33-year career as a Respiratory Therapist at Putnam Hospital Center and served as the President of the Board of Directors of Hudson Valley Cerebral Palsy Association. Pastor Kathy has two adult children, Joseph and Sarah, and two grandsons, Thomas and Maxwell, who are the joys of her life.
