About the author
Ketrina grew up as a timid Brooklyn girl. Ketrina also has a Caribbean background because her parents are from St. Vincent and the Grenadines Ketrina was diagnosed with a disability called Cerebral Palsy at 9 months old. Her doctors, educators, and professionals in the field created low expectations for Ketrina's life in many aspects. Despite the expectations, she attended mainstream New York City Public School with Special Education services and classroom support in her surrounding neighborhood of East New York and Brownsville. As a young girl of color living within underserved communities question how far she will make it as well. She graduated from Teachers Preparatory High School in Brownsville, Brooklyn. She became a well-trained and educated advocate for individuals with disabilities and their families through Partners in Policymaking and has received other certificates in advocacy and Disability. Ketrina was also crowned Ms. Wheelchair NY 2018. Her platform focused on bringing self-advocacy into schools and making them more inclusive. She received her Associate's degree in Liberal Arts from Kingsborough Community College. She is now a motivational speaker and Certified Professional coach.
