Overview
A detailed guide through the Scriptures on the important issue of speaking in tongues at the time of baptism in the holy Spirit. Pastor John Clark answers the following questions: Does everyone who is baptized with the Spirit speak in tongues? Is Spirit Baptism necessary for salvation? When is a person born again? Does water baptism have a place in one's 'new birth' experience?
Description
Speaking in Tongues at Spirit Baptism This book was written for people who have received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of speaking in other tongues, and for those who are seeking this experience. This book offers a reasoned explanation of what happens when a person is baptized by Jesus with the Holy Spirit. Over the years, the Lord Jesus has revealed truths to me concerning his New Testament, but this is not one of them. The best that I can say is something like Paul said to the Corinthian saints when he gave his judgment concerning a marital issue; that is, on this matter, “I think I have the Spirit.” Reason is not revelation, but it is a tool by which we can determine what is true if our reasoning is led by the holy Spirit. With humble confidence that the Lord will so lead us now, let us reason together about the issue of speaking in tongues at Spirit baptism. And with mercy from God, this reasoning together will lead us to the harmony that Jesus earnestly prayed his followers would enjoy.
About the author
Pastor John D. Clark Sr has been a pastor of a non-sectarian home fellowship for over 30 years. He has authored many books, gospel tracts, and other materials to help spread the truth of the gospel. In addition, he has written many songs and recorded several CDs which are available for free download on his personal website given in the book. Pastor John considers himself only a servant of Jesus Christ. He does not promote any institutionalized religious system, including the religious institution called Christianity. Instead, he reaches out to all believers everywhere with sound doctrine, exhorting them to serve the Lord "in spirit and in truth" rather than in ceremony or traditions which contradict and undermine the principles of the New Covenant which Jesus purchased with his sacrificial death.
