Soup is a story about a special little hen and the challenges she faces growing up, fitting in, and how she overcomes these challenges while staying true to herself. Soup is a nonfictional hen whose story is based mostly on actual occurrences. Yes, there really was a Soup, and she really did lay enormous eggs!

SOUP is a story about a chick that gets mixed into a bin with a different breed of chicks at a farm store. Imagine the farmer's surprise when his chicks grow into hens and one of them is different from the rest. Soup is a heartwarming story about how this little chick becomes a hen that just doesn't fit in. What the farmer and the other hens soon find out is that her feathers aren't the only thing that makes this special little hen different. Come along with Soup as she overcomes the challenges she faces of not fitting in, while staying true to herself.

Jennie Hamblin is a former preschool teacher with a love of literature and reading to children. She, her husband and their menagerie of animals live on a small farm in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Jennie has a degree in Early Childhood Education and over 20 years' experience working with children. She has spent years telling stories to children and has now put one of them into print.
