Snowy Day Bird Buffet is a book for children of all ages. Twelve different birds are observed and described, in verse, as they take part in a buffet of seed and suet at a feeding station on a wintry day. Colorful graphic illustrations accompany the rhyming text. This book is educational as well as entertaining. Information about each bird is provided in a section of fun facts, and a short glossary and list of links to informative websites are also included. Reading this book with children should increase their interest in the outside world and, hopefully, ignite their curiosity about birds. It is the author's intention to awaken the sense of wonder in all who read Snowy Day Bird Buffet.
About the author
Mary Helen Grasso is a writer and poet for the child in all of us. She is an observer and student of nature who wants to share her appreciation of the outdoors with others. When she isn't photographing birds, insects, and flowers she is visiting her grandchildren in Oregon where she spends time writing and illustrating books with them. She agrees with Ralph W. Sockman who said: "The larger the island of knowledge, the longer the shoreline of wonder."
