Mary Najar enjoys being a wife, a mother of three, a stepmother of two, a grandmother of eight. She is a very curious, sometimes crazy person with a pen and paper in hand to record all of the fun. She directed her own path through this journey called life making several mistakes and celebrating many successes. Each event would add to her repertoire, a new lesson of what to do and what not to do in life. The fire from the burns of the lessons would often leave a scar on her heart’s memory yet she always had a song in her voice. While not religious, she celebrates a very strong Christian faith. Mary grew up on a small rural farm in south Oklahoma City, learning secrets of survival. She used this knowledge throughout her life in various situations, but not always successful in her choice of resolutions, learning what not to do once again. When Mary was in junior high, she had a poem published in the school anthology. This sparked an interest into keeping a daily journal. During Mary’s adult life, she overlooked her own nutrition, and in her fortys she started developing digestive illnesses and high blood pressure. Mary’s interest in nutrition peaked as she researched nutrition and natural healing foods as she cared for loved ones during illness watching her own health deteriorate. Hector, Mary’s husband, also feared for her health and researched nutrition and healthy recipes. They decided that it was time to them to make a reluctant admission to out of control eating behavior and make a life change. After a 3am emergency room call, he took her hand and led them both towards a slim, healthy, vibrant, young life. Another journey, another lesson, and another journal entry.
