About the author
Bethany Wood is a retired teacher and lives in Ontario Canada. She is dyslectic and had difficulty learning to read. With perseverance she overcame this tremendous hurdle. She noticed that many of her students also struggled with reading. Bethany started writing early phonetic readers to help build confidence in her students and later progressed to writing children’s bedtime story books. Over the years she wrote several Christmas stories that her students presented as plays unbeknownst to their parents that she had written them. She was given high praise from the parents about these plays. She tucked them away each year creating a file folder of stories for her students. Bethany tutored children ages 6 -13 yrs. that were have difficulty learning to read. She began writing stories for them, based on their interests to peek their fascination so they would want to read. This progression led to several ‘young teen’ novels. One book led to another over the years. Bethany writes children stories from early phonetic readers to young teen novels. It is her hope to spark inquisitiveness in struggling young readers so that too will persevere through the struggles of learning to read and to begin to love books and reading as she did.
