About the author
Vince Golia was born and raised on the perilous streets of the Bronx, New York. After having been stabbed and narrowly missing being taken out by a bullet, he had a spiritual awakening and decided to study theology. In 1983 he graduated from Iona College in New Rochelle, New York, and taught theology at the Academy of the Resurrection in Rye, New York. He moved to Florida in 1990 and taught theology for three years at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Ft. Lauderdale. He also spent two years working with a number of agencies acting in television commercials. vince received his MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) certification in 2001.
.His main interests include weightlifting, racquetball, martial arts, and working as an amateur entomologist. He has traveled to a number of countries and maintains a renowned, diverse personal insect collection. He has discovered over a dozen new insect species and has two species (a beetle Ischyrus goliai, and a plant hopper Toya goliai) named after him. Vince has also coauthored two papers pertaining to exotic Asian insects, which he first discovered in Florida. He has recently discovered a new ladybug in South Florida and plans to name it after his daughter.
Vince has been blessed with two exceptionally astute children. His son is a student at the University of Florida and his daughter is in high school.
