Shayad Yaheen se ho

This has been as exciting a journey to me as the most memorable cricket match in my early cricketing career or the unbelievable journey of entrepreneurship. In some ways, this journey is likely to make all other experiences worth it as I seem to be able to access, hitherto, unavailable powers of expression. My journey ould have been impossible without my Urdu mentor, Moulana Arif Saheb. He teaches Urdu, Arabic and Persian and also works as an Arabic translator.I am deeply indebted to him. As a teacher, I also have felt deeply inspired now to teach Urdu to at least a few thousand other Indians. Ajay Shukla, an accomplished poet and a senior corporate citizen at the helm of McGraw-Hill is a dear friend who has helped me immensely in my journey. Right from my early days in poetry, I have shared my imperfect writings with him with a lot of trepidation and have received very constructive and confidence-building inputs or feedback from him. Professor Vishu Bellani from Delhi University has been a friend for over a decade and a half. Her insights about language and culture are deeply insightful without the sophistry. Her long sittings with me to critique my writings have been of immense value. Many a poem have been inspired by Uma and Nandu, the epicenter of my life. Their support and encouragement has been of utmost importance to me. Affectionately, Satya ‘Muasir’.

Muasir (means ‘a contemporary’) is his Takhallus (pseudonym). He considers Gnanpeeth Award winner and Urdu poet of repute, (late) Shahryaar Sahib as his Guru. He steals time from his other self and the world to pen down his reflections, insights, experiences in what he calls the most beautiful language in the world – URDU. He also writes poetry in Hindi, Telugu and English while Tamil is his mother tongue. He is adept at over a dozen languages. He teaches Hindi, English and Urdu for children at Indus World School. We are speaking about Satya Narayanan R ( or just Satya, to most), an alumnus of IIM Bangalore and the founder- Chairman of Career Launcher. One of his accomplishments is to keep his Urdu or poetic identity a well-guarded secret for reasons best known to him.
