Description

As we age, our bodies are the sum of our physical and emotional injuries. "Scar Tissue" is a book of poems about living the good fight.

The first section (Approaching Eighty) is about aging and the inevitable approach of death. There are poems on what it means physically to age and poems about the fear of approaching death and poems of what the experience may entail written with a sense of magical realism.

The second section (Fierce) contains poems of fiery imagination about living and dying. These are stories written with passion about what it means to live written with many narrative points of view including persona poems by a serial killer, the ghost of a 911 firefighter, a cabdriver in Baghdad and the King of the Werewolves.

Bob McAfee, in his eightieth year, writes with ferocity and optimism, imagination and humor. This is his seventh book in seven years. He is only getting started.
