Description
Saving Ireistis is an action-packed fantasy novel written for kids, teenagers, and adults with an adventurous streak. The story begins with an average teenage boy, Michael, who finds himself mysteriously pulled into an alternate world containing magic, dragons, wizards, and many other surprises. In his attempts to return home, he finds himself befriended by a local wizard and developing some magic of his own. From there, Mike will set off on a quest, accompanied by four new friends, including a Dragon-human hybrid and an elf-like woodlander, to retrieve the last Dragon egg in existence. The Dragons, once noble and proud race, have become smaller and weaker, nearing extinction, and Mike's mission is their only chance to avoid disappearing completely. The Dark Wizard Meard, however, has far more nefarious plans for the precious article. Before he can save it, though, he must first travel cross the land of Teranna and brave its many dangers. It is not an easy or safe task he has been given, but that does not stop Mike or his friends in the completion of their mission. Even in the face of a major confrontation with Meard's powerful forces, Mike and his friends continue in their pursuit and just barely make it out alive with their prize. Between run-ins with mysterious creatures, near-death experiences over treacherous terrain, and the revelation of the source of the magic of Teranna, Saving Ireistis will most definitely keep you on your toes.
About the author
Erika Birkenes is an 18 year old author. She grew up loving to read fiction and fantasy novels, so it was only natural for her to begin writing her own at age 15. Starting as a school project, her first book, Saving Ireistis, quickly became a full novel that would be two years in the making. By her senior year in high school, Erika had completed writing and editing her book and decided to self-publish. The story, which follows an ordinary teenager like herself, captured the wild imagination that Erika had fostered over years of reading and creative writing. Her creative use of language and description paints a picture of some of the fantastic adventures and magical excitement that had previously only existed in her mind. Over the course of two years, Erika’s first novel had grown into far more than she had initially expected. By the end of her senior year, Erika had not only successfully self-published her pet project, but had also begun working on its sequel, Race to Pardes. The fictional world she had created in detail was too dear to her to abandon after just one book, and so she created additional scenarios in which the characters of Saving Ireistis were set on yet another dangerous and exciting journey across the land of Teranna. Though Saving Ireistis is set in a completely fictionalized world, Erika has harnessed inspiration from both other books as well as her own everyday life to create a setting that is both captivating and believable. In both Saving Ireistis and Race to Pardes, Erika develops the personalities of her characters, explores different styles of writing and narration, and has found a way in which to share her love of the written word with others. In addition to being a professional author, Erika still finds the time to attend college as well as staying involved with her other hobbies such as dance and art. This talented and multi-faceted young woman has not only a bright future ahead of her, but also plans on living it to the fullest while also sharing her shining imagination with her audience.
