Overview

This is an urban fiction story of a young adult male who experienced psychological abuse and trauma when he was a child, now he lets his anger control his life. Now he is creating a history of domestic and gender violence. His anger and violence has rendered him blind to being on the path of self destruction. A young adult transgender female is instrumental in him making a life altering decision. Now his life will never be the same.

Description

Derik lives in his anger. A young adult male who as a child suffered psychological abuse and trauma, now he lets his anger control his life. Derik having no clue of how to have a healthy relationship, his latest girlfriend is now his ex. Nadine a young adult female, intelligent and beautiful knew how to call it quits in no uncertain terms. There are things Derik doesn't know about Nadine.

Seething with resentment and a damaged ego, Derik assaults Ruby, a young adult transgender female and her friend, a young gay male, on the street. He has no idea he's on the road to self-destruction. Moving like a fully loaded Mack truck going downhill without any brakes, Derik is out of control and has an accident that leaves him teetering between life and death.

The accident left him hospitalized. An angel embraced him, an angel he recognized, and was his guide as he traveled from life into death and back to life. After that his life would never be the same.

About the author

I was born in Berkeley, California in 1952 and grew up in Oakland, California. I've been retired from working since 2003. I wrote this story as a challenge to myself. Verbally, I don't tell a joke or story well, so I wanted to find out if I could write a fluid and cohesive story. I began writing an untitled story, (Ruby Khan), and it took on a life of its' own. I hope you enjoy it and keep the conversation on domestic and gender violence going.
