The book is a wonderful compliment to the film/documentary “A Band Called Death” Upon reading the pre-book manuscript, there is already talk amongst certain music industry executives about a possible full-length movie version of this story. If you love Rock-N-Roll, the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and what we now call the millennium, you will absolutely love “Rock-N-Roll Victims, The Story Of A Band Called Death”
About the author
Bobby Dean Hackney is one of the founding members of the Detroit 1970s Rock-N-Roll band Death. Formed in their hometown of Detroit in 1973 along with his two brothers David Hackney and Dannis Hackney, they were an all Black Rock-n-Roll band consisting of three blood brothers playing hard-driving Rock-n-Roll music. The name Death (given to the band by now deceased brother David), along with their desire to play Rock-n-Roll music, subjected the group to much ridicule and rejection in the 1970s. Over 34 years later the music of Death from Detroit is now getting worldwide recognition. The music of Death has been released around the world on the worldwide Drag City Record label and the band is being acknowledged by Rock-N-Roll and music historians as the band that pioneered the “Punk” music sound five years before the term became known for Rock-n-Roll. Having to recall and re-live the Death story, Bobby began penning his memoirs during the making of a documentary about Death by filmmakers Jeff Howlett and Mark Covino. The now highly acclaimed documentary entitled “A Band Called Death” was released in 2013 after 4 years in the making. During those four years, Bobby began to write what has become an autobiography of his life in Detroit, the Hackney family, and being in a Rock-n-Roll band with his brothers called Death. Bobby is the Bass player, songwriter, and lead vocalist for the band Death. Bobby takes us all on an incredible journey of music, family, faith , and determination with an autobiography of his life in Detroit and this amazing band called Death with his book simply titled “Rock-N-Roll Victims, The Story Of A Band Called Death”
