As a type 2 diabetic myself, this easy to read and understand health guide is written for those with or without diabetes, or for those who may have prediabetes. It is simply meant to educate people and their loved ones about the disease so that they may make informed decisions in improving their overall health. Generally speaking, type 2 diabetes can be avoided if properly addressed with lifestyle changes.
This book contains basic and practical information that everyone should be aware of concerning type 2 diabetes, but is NOT, intended to offer any kind of medical advice or to subvert a doctor's professional recommendation, but instead, to document my own personal experiences, present valuable information that I have uncovered and to bring forth an awareness of the disease that may assist in the prevention of diabetes, or, for those who have discovered diabetes recently: Transitioning to a New Life as a Type 2 Diabetic…as written by a diabetic. ALWAYS seek the advice of a licensed physician in your treatment of diabetes. If you do not understand diabetes, then you are at a greater risk of contracting the disease and worse.
Diabetes is on the rise and currently affects approximately 200 million people worldwide and is the 5th leading cause of death.
After becoming diabetic myself, I soon discovered that most people did not fully understand and appreciate the consequences and realities of living with diabetes. I continually found myself explaining to family, friends and others on a daily basis, about this complex disease. For this reason alone, I was motivated to write this health guide for those with a genuine need to know. In other words…everyone!
This book is filled with my own discoveries involving diabetes, advice from several licensed physicians, opinions and research. Upon reading this book, the reader should be adequately able to decipher what to expect before and after becoming diabetic. Pay strict attention to bold, italics and underlined words as well as Author's Note, Author's Opinion, Author's Warning, Author's Advice and Author's Example. I have included these to express their importance or to highlight a point of interest. It is my sincerest desire that my book will assist some in preventing diabetes, while in other cases, help those that want to control their type 2 diabetes. However, prevention of the disease is altogether favorable in the first place. Becoming diabetic, I can assure you is no picnic. The extra effort that it takes to prevent this disease is totally worth it.
Managing diabetes can be stressful at times, which can affect blood sugar levels and may contribute to mood swings, such as: making a person sad and irritable. However, through discipline, knowledge, mental preparation and lifestyle changes, we can prevent or stay the progression of diabetes…yes we can!
