Meet Dr. Rani G. Whitfield, a highly accomplished Board Certified Family Physician specializing in sports medicine, practicing in his hometown of Baton Rouge, LA. Dr. Whitfield holds a degree from Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, completed his medical training at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN, and his Family Medicine residency at Franciscan Medical Center in Dayton, OH. He furthered his expertise with a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine from Ohio State University.
Dr. Whitfield is widely recognized for his advocacy work, serving as a National Spokesperson for the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. He has earned numerous awards, including the ASA Southeastern Affiliates Service Award, the American Stroke Association Legacy Award, and the NAACP Freedom Award. His commitment to the community is evident through various accolades, including Baton Rouge's Top 40 People Under 40, and the Baton Rouge YMCA Legends Ball award.
In addition to his medical achievements, Dr. Whitfield is known as "Tha Hip Hop Doc," using music and medicine to educate the community about health and wellness. His diverse interests include DJ'ing (as DJ D.O.C), performing in his band U4ria, exercising, playing basketball, cooking, winemaking, and riding his motorcycle, a Honda Goldwing Trike.
