Beginning with an essay by art historian and curator Bruce Weber, this book features a collection of nearly fifty years of paintings and prints by Woodstock, New York artist Richard Pantell. His works were not created for art's sake, but rather as a portrait of Americana as expressed through "painted stories". Pantell's earlier works are staged in urban landscapes with a small lone figure as the starring focus. His recent paintings of bathers often feature the same woman in distinctly different environments, sometimes alienated physically and psychologically. Much of the work has subtle social commentary and some of it, not so subtle. Illustrated with fifty-one works of art.
