Caring for her mother, Olivia, on the last three days of Olivia’s life, Dr. Rebecca Brodie struggles to achieve enough balance in her life to stay on stable ground. As her story weaves back and forth in time, Rebecca is oblivious to the missing clues which not only explain Ol- ivia’s actions, but would help Rebecca understand the years of storms created by her sister, Sharon. Rhythms is about the ups and downs, the highs and lows, and the expected and unexpected that beat through our lives.

Francine R. Kaufman is Chief Medical Officer at Medtronic Diabetes, and a Distinguished Professor Emerita of Pediatrics and Communications at the Keck School of Medicine and the Annenberg School of Communications of the University of Southern California, and an attending physician at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. She is Past President of the American Diabetes Association and author of Diabesity (Bantam, 2005). She is involved in medical research and has authored over 200 scientific articles. She resides in Los Angeles.
