Description
The women of the African country of Azania are in revolt over their inferior status. And unscrupulous foreigners are scrambling to exploit the country's natural resources, competing with the ever-present Chinese. Into this perilous ferment steps the hapless William Trundle, whose work with communities brings him close to the formidable village chief, Grace Matemba, and her alluring and accomplished daughter, Ellen, who becomes William's lover. Intrigue feeds on intrigue with the illicit smuggling of uranium, a political murder, a sensationally-bungled coup d'etat by English bluebloods, and a Lysistrata-like withdrawal of sexual favours by the wives. Can William's love for Ellen survive this chaotic unravelling?
