Sherry Halperin was born and raised in Beacon, New York. As a teen, she studied at the Dramatic Workshop in New York City and spent five summers at Cecilwood Theatre in Fishkill, New York as a summer stock apprentice along side such notables as Barbra Streisand, Dustin Hoffman and Peter Fonda. She went West for College and received her degree from the Pasadena Playhouse College of Fine Arts with a major in directing. Ms. Halperin has consistently worked on projects in the arts from distributing feature films, agenting actors, directing stage productions and working on hundreds of hours of television as a writer, producer and director. She has worked for Dick Clark and Norman Lear and produced world music concerts and ballets all over the United States in venues such as Lincoln Center and UCLA's Royce Hall. Her current book, Recue Me, He’s Wearing A Moose Hat, has garnered praise from The London Times, Chicago Tribune and Newsweek, among scores of other print media and has appeared on several best seller lists. Sherry continues to be active in film and television having been a producer on the award winning movie, Adopt A Sailor, currently available on NETFLIX after a successful Film Festival and theatrical release. She is a past President of Women In Film and Television and was the 2011 recipient of the National Pen Women’s Award for Performing Arts as well as receiving a U.S. Congressional Recognition for her contributions to the arts. Sherry is a humorist who strongly believes in the power of laughter to heal, enhance and empower a fulfilling life. She resides in Santa Cruz, CA with her six pound poodle, Clouseau and has two married sons and two grandsons.
