Description
The book begins with Alene’s childhood in the 1920s. During Alene’s childhood, her mother became a widow; therefore, changes became a part of Alene’s life. Eventually, Alene studied and became a Registered Nurse. During WWII she joined the Navy and among other experiences she served aboard the hospital ship in Tokyo Bay where, at the end of WWII, POWs received medical care. As Rear Admiral, she traveled the world visiting hospitals, nurses and students. Her interest and support of the nursing profession lasted her entire life.
