Reflections

"Reflections" is a collection of poems I have written since joining MonteCedro, a retirement community. They were written to praise and share with exceptionally accomplished friends and family. Unit now, I had only published individual poems with no plans to publish a collection. Persistent encouragement from friends and neighbours to publish a collection and finding several past poems allowed me to prepare this collection. The collection is organized in four categories - FRIENDSHIPS, THOUGHTS, FUN and TOASTS TO THE LASSIES. Under the category "FRIENDSHIPS" are included poems honoring some close friends and a some family members. Poems praising their outstanding leadership and compassion - Stars Among Stars. In the category of THOUGHTS are poems of encouragement to stay strong in a fast changing world heading toward a different moral norm. They express the need for strong leadership to unite this country. The category of FUN includes some humorous poems and is followed by "Toasts to the Lassies" written in celebration of Robert Burns night. As you read my words, my hope is that I have conveyed the deep connectivity and admiration I have with friends and nature. My recent experience in preparing this collection introduced a growing need for a better understanding of mental health care and the pain of loneliness. I sincerely trust you will enjoy and share my thoughts. May you appreciate this work as a a poet standing on the shoulders of poets before me lifted by the love of family and friends.
