About the author
Jim Spencer, called Phil until he was in his twenties was born on January 9, 1945, in Northampton, Massachusetts. He attended the public schools there graduating from high School in 1962. He then spent two years at Holyoke Junior College. He joined the Air Force in 1965 and retired in 1986 as a Master Sergeant. He spent those years as a photo interpreter, intelligence analyst with some time spent as a disaster preparedness technician. In 1967, he married Susan Marie Conz. While in the Air Force, he went back to school at Wayland Baptist University in Hawaii where he received a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a BSOE in intelligence systems management. When he retired, he attended Springfield College where he received a master’s degree in industrial psychology. He held various managerial positions until he was hired as a training administrator for the Federal Deposit Insurance Company in Massachusetts. He was a victim of a downsize and worked as a financial advisor for American Express until his heart attack in 2000. He has won numerous writing contests over the following years. In addition to writing, he is deeply interested in travel and photography. He both hunts and fishes. He has two children, Kim and Jason, and one granddaughter, Emma.
