Description
PSYCHIATRIST, DISTURBED describes the relationship between two physicians who struggle with maternal abandonment early in their lives. They meet at a 1960's era private sanatorium which caters to wealthy patients. The main character's mother committed suicide when he was very young. He struggles to comprehend the emptiness with which he is burdened, but beseeching patients unsettle him. To escape, he engages in a torrid romance with a woman who furnishes lust without love. The other clinician is alcoholic and sociopathic. He searches for a mother who left the family when he was a child. He suspects she is married to the arrogant director of the hospital. He is a brilliant researcher, but an empty soul who steals marijuana from a confiscated hospital supply and takes a female patient off campus. As authorities confront him, he engages in an act of catastrophic destruction.
