Description

Ellie Sheridan has an impossible decision to make, whether to continue her current life’s journey or to be born again to new parents, a new life and the promise of her innermost desire, a ‘soul-mate’. With her impending loveless marriage to Peter only three weeks away, an accident at work provides the springboard to an adventure set in a pre-earth existence. Here in this beautiful paradise, Ellie falls in love with Saul and is quite sure that her decision will be an easy one and that she will not regret leaving her mundane, unhappy earth-life for a new life that will include soul-mate Saul. Ellie has never felt so loved in all her life and, keeping the secret that she has been to earth already, seals her commitment to Saul in a Promise Ceremony where they each make vows to find each other on earth. Ellie’s adventures are intertwined with flashbacks of her life on Earth making the decision increasingly difficult, yet answering life’s biggest mystery of all. Is there such a phenomena as a ‘soul-mate’, the one perfect person for you, chosen before you were even born and destined to be your companion throughout eternity? A funny, sad, thought-provoking book destined to change how we look at life on earth.

About the author

Born in Aberdeen, Scotland, Linda Beverley was educated at an all-girl’s High School where reading English Literature vied with a healthy interest in the pupils of the nearby boy’s educational establishment. Her love of romantic literature continued on to University where a more in-depth analysis of ‘star crossed lovers’ and Wordsworth’s notion of a life lived before coming to earth in his ‘Ode: Intimations of Mortality’ gave substance to the ideas for her novel. By the age of fifteen, Linda had experienced the phenomenon known as ‘love at first sight’ for herself, when eyes met through a bus window on her way home from school and the concept of a soul-mate, predestined to meet on earth, the one true love destined to be joined forever, became a reality for her. Two months later through a series of non-related co-incidences, they were to next meet in an overnight sleeping compartment of a train to London. That was over 40 years ago and they are still together. An English and Drama student before her marriage to Malcolm, Linda has been the backbone of her local church drama productions where her ability to write offered the opportunity to direct many of her own plays which, it was noted, always seemed to include an obligatory love match. Five of her six children are also happily married and have produced 14 grandchildren Linda recognises that each new child born (and the still birth of her first daughter) has served to consolidate her interest in life’s greatest questions, Where did I come from? Why am I here on earth? Where will I go when I die? Her faith in God has provided a solid premise to formulate and explore possible answers in this, her first novel. Like Stephanie Mayer, Linda is a Mormon belonging to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
