Overview

Praise the Tainted Trinity is a monument of grief, crafted and sculpted by the careful hands of poetry. Love is relived and imagined, as McHugh grapples with the "irreconcilable realities" of loss and looming fatherhood. This lyrical, free-verse bloodletting will profoundly move and entrance readers, as they taste the author's longing, and feed from his resilience.

Description

In Praise the Tainted Trinity, 40 poems represent 40 weeks of pregnancy. In depicting the small blisses of love, the dislocation of loss, and the bewilderment of looming fatherhood, McHugh grazes that which makes life both meaningful and unbearable. The rich, sensuous language and sprawling metaphors create a sort of dreamscape from which McHugh grips and recomposes his pain into art.
