How Rosebud Became a Pilot

by Marge Richey

Book Image Not Available
Rosebud is a favorite on Farmer Richey's farm. She is happy as a pig but her dream is to fly. "Sure, when pigs fly," says Farmer Richey and Rosebud is filled with joy. If Farmer Richey says pigs can fly then it must be true. She receives directions on how to fly from Cwackers, the Duck Who Flew Around the World, but Rosebud's legs are not wings, they're legs, and she is not a duck, she's a pig. And pigs can't fly. Or can they?
Several Rosebud adventures have made this little pig a favorite with all the animals on the farm. For a long, long time, seems like forever, she has dreamed of flying. She watches the ducks way up there and shouts, "I want to do that, I want to fly." Then one day she overhears Farmer Richey say, "Sure, when pigs fly!" Rosebud is immediately filled with joy. If Farmer Richey says pigs can fly then Rosebud knows it's true. But knowing it and doing it are just not the same thing. You will be surprised by what this little pig is able to endure. Will she fly? Will she become a pilot? Could be!
About the author
Mother of three, grandmother of five. Marge has been telling stories to children for many years and writing children's stories for the past decade or so. Her books about the unusual animals on Farmer Richey's farm are best sellers at fairs, fly-ins, nights on the square and other places where parents and children gather. A licensed pilot herself, the author has been delighted to find that many of the animals she writes about love flying as much as she does. Like any other pilot, Marge wants children to become acquainted with the joys of flying and hopes her books will tweek their imaginations.
