Overview
A crime, the worst kind of all. The desecration of the dying on the battlefield. A curse, one with no end and that takes innocent life mercilessly. And a race to lift it all before it claims it next victim.
Description
A crime. A curse. And a race to lift it, before it claims it next victim. This is the story of James McConnell; a desperate father on a mission; Leon Kerr, James' uncle and a man seeking a purpose to rid himself of his own demons; and Father Ignacio Frisicchio, a Jesuit priest who might have the answers; all unlikely heroes in this spellbinding nerve-tingling suspenseful tale of good vs. evil and the triumph of one over the other. Moving through time from Flanders fields to contemporary times and moving through space from North America to Europe, Perpetual Sin delivers quiet unassuming satisfaction to even the most insatiable connoisseurs who thrive at the intersection between light and dark.
About the author
I am a retired Information Technology Executive who likes to tell stories and always wanted to write them down but like many climbing the corporate ladder, never had the time to do so until now. One such story I carried with me in my head for forty years. It was a story about the 'Bones of Christ' being discovered. It came to me a long time ago as a result of a discussion I had as a young teenager with a pious man who was concerned about my then wanderings from the core of my Irish Catholic faith. I knew his faith was very strong and I asked him what it would take to shake it to its core. His answer was 'if they ever found the bones of Christ for he rose body and soul.' That got me thinking about a story; a story that would become Corpus Christi, my debut novel. It is a great story, even if I do say so myself. And I hope those of you that read it, enjoy doing so as much as I enjoyed writing it. Here is a teaser. When the mortal remains of Christ are found in a disused Irish Monastery, the Universal Catholic Church will stop at nothing to prevent their discovery from becoming public knowledge whilst an equally determined former Irish Republican Volunteer and his first love will allow no barrier to stand in the way of the truth even while being pursued by the deadly ruthless 'Miles Dei'. Weaving through the beautiful Irish countryside, the great European cities of London, Belfast, Dublin, Rome and Geneva as well as some of the most breathtaking scenery in Europe, Corpus Christi is a 'buckle up' ride from start to finish, moving seamlessly from the time of Christ through the formative years of Northern Ireland's Troubles to Contemporary times. Beginning with a shocking discovery, it continues with a pulsating middle, and finishes with an end that satisfies. My second book, 'Counterpunch' is also now available. It is an intricate tale about an assassination attempt on the President of the United States set against the backdrop of a terrorist attack on our mainland. It wasn't percolating as long is my head as my first book, but the end result is of no less quality. Here is a teaser. A clandestine meeting and a hitman unleashed. A terrorist attack not foiled and a discarded FBI investigator with nothing to lose. All part of a story that just doesn't seem to add up and a woman who will prove it to be. So, is the die cast, for a race to prevent a human tragedy not seen since 1963, identify the perpetrators behind the biggest terrorist attack on the US mainland since 2001, and bring to justice the mastermind behind it all. Moving at a steady clip and shifting seamlessly between the US, Europe, and Asia, Counterpunch delivers above the belt, below the belt, and on every possible side of the belt. My third book 'Perpetual Sin' is also now available. It is a dark novel in which satanic forces are set against those of God. A curse is unleashed - the curse of the first born - and it must be stopped lest evil triumph over good and another innocent victim is taken. The clock is ticking. Here is a teaser. A crime. My accomplice in crime is my wife Eleanor and our three adult children, James, Maire, and Anne who review, edit and give their seal of approval, the seal of approval that is worthy of the name Connolly.
