Description

History Buffs, Florida Gators, and especially members of Sigma Phi Epsilon, (even though it’s oriented to the Florida Alpha chapter) should enjoy and want to own this unique publication.

Containing over 750 pages of documentary, with more than 1200 photos, the reader will learn of famous members, fellow brothers, little sisters, special events, the good times and adventures, sorority socials, mishaps, and escapades of this exclusive group of SigEps at the University of Florida. Documented with important charts and diagrams, composites, newspaper clippings and contributed stories of the 100 years of this outstanding fraternity’s history, this book is a must read!

Explore time periods, decade by decade, in this spectacular “telephone book sized” edition. Observing first, what was happening around the WORLD, followed by the NATIONAL Headquarters of Sigma Phi Epsilon located in Richmond, Virginia, and then onto the University of Florida campus life in Gainesville, and finally the exploits of the chapter itself.

This collection of memories includes campus sites and buildings named after famous individuals, all the chapter’s diverse houses occupied, including the fabled story behind Frank Lloyd Wright’s involvement in the current fraternity row location.  Also archived is the deadly Heart Association’s Run-a-Thon catastrophe that will be forever ingrained as the fraternity’s greatest tragedy, always remembering the four brothers that gave their lives in a noble cause for that charity.

Included is the real story behind the loss of four years of this historic chapter’s valued Charter, how it happened, and what went wrong. Learn how Florida Alpha’s Charter was resurrected. Additionally, enjoy the stories of the men that made this unique and envied fraternal organization the multifaceted entity that it has become today.

Test your knowledge on the history of an “ahead of its time” National Balanced Man Program (BMP) with a questionnaire of unique historical events surrounding the progress of the fraternity through 10 decades, and details and how to be recognized with the chapter's highest award, the Order of the Alpha Gator. Remembering the lifelong bonds of brotherhood through some of the best years that any college student or alumni could experience and never forget.
