ABOUT ME Linda Mae Upshaw, MIT Educator and Artist Ms. Linda has devoted her life and gifts to finding ways to introduce participants to the many spiritual benefits of art engagement. She is the owner of Canvas Connections, a multi arts collaborative whose focus is to engage participants in capacity building activities by employing critical and creative thinking while designing art projects. She has taught all academic subjects to children, and currently offers transformative art workshops for women. Her love of creativity is reflected in her art work, and music skills. Ms. Linda has earned degrees: Master's in Teaching, Seattle University, BA in Communications, the Evergreen State College and an AAS degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York city. In the summer of 2009 she traveled to Belo Horizonte, Brazil where she taught art and music to under resourced children. As a Global Dialogues scholar, she traveled with 5 other educators to Eastern Europe, visiting with education leaders in 6 countries to discuss cultural change. Ms. Linda is very excited to present her new art program: ART WITH A PURPOSE: GIFTS WE MUST GIVE OURSELVES. She has written and published her first book, Painted Perceptions: My Journey with Becoming, available at many book stores.
