Paint : Hair : Art : Heart : Part of a Collection : Páirt This project has been on my mind for years. Here I've taken photos of my clean hair, that I didn't want to go down the drain, as it randomly was pulled off my hand and plastered onto the wall. These images captured my imagination, inspired me to translate what I saw in paint. My original hair photos were printed onto 8" x 8" canvases so I could paint directly onto the photo image. Some of the paintings are very literal, confined by the shape in the hair photo, others are suggestions, and others are inspirations. Some of the paintings were inspired by other artists, you'll see influences of Frida Khalo, Monet, Benjamin Harjo Jr., and Led Zeppelin. Some of the paintings are mostly blank canvas, others use the light and reflection from the photo and keep small parts of the photo exposed, while other canvases are completely painted.
