Out of This World

A new Earth? Well, yes actually. Out of This World is a collaboration between writer Laird Orr and highly evolved visitors from a distant world who call themselves the Lamplighters. It is a practical guidebook for raising not only individual consciousness but that of humanity as a whole. Its goal is nothing less than to save us, and our planet, from ourselves. Like wise grandparents these counsellors from afar sit us down in front of the fire and with great love, offer us their wisdom.

A collaboration with beings from a highly evolved civilization in a distant world who call themselves the Lamplighters, the book outlines a future that they say is hiding in plain sight. Whatever the reader’s belief system may be, there is much to be learned here from cultures that are millions of years old and offer insights in which the spiritual and material are no longer separated by our limited understanding. It is in fact a guidebook for both personal and human evolution. Like the monoliths in 2001 A Space Odyssey, it is an intervention by those who love us more than we love ourselves to bring us back from the precipice of annihilation. In addition to recording their lessons for us, author Laird Orr has woven throughout the book his own insights from extensive research and experience. Out of This World is not abstract and theoretical; it is more like sitting in front of the fire with a wise and beloved grandparent, which is why the chapters are called “chats”. It acknowledges the imperfections of our world without judging us. And it contains accessible exercises to help you expand your awareness. The future alluded to above is one in which humanity will live in harmony together and with the whole of nature. Already among us, says the author, are enlightened teachers like the Lamplighters in every field of study who are trying to shift the human race from its self-destructive ways. All that is necessary is for humans to pay attention to them. The core message of the book is expressed by the Lamplighters in the final “chat”, in which they say they are our friends and hope that this book will allow us to feel empowered and able to think of the whole universe as our neighbourhood. This is how they know it. They say they are not aliens, but in some ways part of our very nature.

In 1994, towards the end of a long career teaching high school in his hometown Toronto, author Laird Orr discovered that he had a gift for channelling and healing. Naturally the first people he helped were his students and their parents. After retiring in 2000, he was able to devote himself to spiritual work full time. The process has continued to evolve in the intervening years but he has always seen his abilities as a gift of grace to be grateful for, one that must be used with humility. He does not ask for payment for helping others. Around the time he retired from teaching, he began communication with benevolent non-earthly beings who called themselves Lamplighters, or Payseetahs. In 2014 they told Laird that they wanted to write a book with him, by giving him telepathic messages for humanity. The results of that collaboration, woven with his own contributions, make up the illuminating book, Out of This World. Laird continues to live in Toronto with his wife Patti. Their blended family is comprised of four adult children and three grandchildren (so far).
