Overview
This is Poetry that goes a bit left of centre. It is a strange mix of free verse and rhyme that takes you to dark places in the mind and the universe which surrounds it. Amid the dark there are rays of light to bring balance and evoke a smile.
Description
This is Poetry that goes a bit left of centre. It is a strange mix of free verse and rhyme that takes you to dark places in the mind and the universe which surrounds it. Amid the dark there are rays of light to bring balance and evoke a smile. The extraordinary thing about the poems collected here is that they should be the product of only one mind. It is as if 60 separate writers were given the task of producing a single piece on any subject and told to let their imaginations run wild. The result is a fascinating combination of emotions both raw and suppressed. There is sadness, frustration, joy, love, despair and humour. One person who read this collection remarked, "I have never seen anything like it." It's possible others will feel the same.
About the author
Steve Davies was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1965 and has been writing poetry and short stories since his teenage years. He became serious about the art in recent years and has joined both the Mordialloc Writers group and the Victorian Writers Association as a means of receiving guidance. 'Out of my mind' is the first poetry collection to be published and will likely be one of many along with books of short stories (and a bit further on a novel and a screenplay which are in the pipeline) When not writing Steve works as a carer for the elderly and disabled and also volunteers as a Group Organiser for the mental health organisation Grow. He is married with 2 grown up children.
