Overview
In the opening scene of the movie, Kate & Leopold (Prime Video), the builder/architect of the Brooklyn Bridge pontificates on time and its unknowableness. So sets the theme of the movie. Kate’s ex-boyfriend, Stewart, is convinced that he found a “crack in the fabric of time” and is institutionalized for his obsession. Nobody believes him except an innocent aid who helps him escape.
Stewart then sets out to convince Kate of his discovery: if she wants to find Leopold, the love of her life, she must choose between a lucrative promotion or going back in time by jumping off the bridge, before midnight, when the portal closes. No pressure.
Faith is hereby defined. Jumping is evidence of that faith.
We found the crack in the fabric of eternity and the portal through which all must enter. Our evangelism bore the marks of Stewart’s obsession and was met with skepticism and rejection. Jumping off the bridge, I exchanged the security of my Treasury career for what some erroneously supposed was a decision to “…join some cult in California, begging for money and then working for the money he begged for.” Few understood.
The following pages evidence how time has vindicated us. We knew only the temporal; we found and went through the portal - His name is Jesus - into the eternal. And we will fully enjoy its benefits when we last close our eyes.

The Road to Glory
What is glory?
Glory is God on display. Believers are clay vessels that contain His glory, but it is not until the vessel is broken that the glory within can be seen.
What is God's job?
God's job is to break these vessels. Determined, He starts with chips and cracks and intensifies His work until the job is done. He uses all manner and means to accomplish this and is persistent in His effort. He delights when others peer into us and see Him.
What is our job?
Our job is to understand His process and cooperate with Him. This is a learned endeavor since our ways are not His ways. Noticing detours and rough roads in life when smooth ones are expected are sign-posts alerting us to God doing His job.
How well do we heed those sign-posts?
Indeed, do we even recognize them as such? John Bunyan's allegory, Pilgrim's Progress, portrays rough roads and detours navigated by its main character, Christian. Likewise, each of us is on our own pilgrimage.
What is yours?
