About the author
Dulcelina Moore (Author) was born in 1959 in Limon, Costa Rica, to an entrepreneur father, Brissot Lindo, and homemaker Cecilia Brown. Her father, a relatively successful businessman, supported the family. As the second of four siblings, Dulcelina witnessed the turbulence that led to her parents’ separation. Through her mother’s experiences, she saw firsthand the transformative power of determination and sacrifice. Like her mother, Dulcelina married young, at 17, and by age 21 she was the mother of one young child and expecting another. Determined to offer a better life to her children, she followed her mother’s footsteps to Miami, Florida, in 1980. However, the odds were against her because she lacked the necessary skills to secure employment. With two young children, no job experience, no transportation, no income, and an illegal status, frustration set in quickly. The time and effort required to pursue her goal seemed illogical and beyond Dulcelina’s grasp. However, logic takes a backseat when you have a dream. She was determined to learn to read and write English. She set out to further her education and ultimately obtained a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice. She eventually obtained a job with the U.S. government and earned a full-time position as a U.S. probation officer. Two decades later, after reaching her original goal of providing for her children, Dulcelina had a new dream and a new goal. She wanted to become an entrepreneur and start her own business. In her pursuit, she boldly picked up and walked away from the U.S. Justice System. On her journey she met many obstacles, but none were big enough to deter her.
