About The Author


Born in 1956, Dr. David Del Bosque grew up in Alice, Texas. Graduating from Santa Monica High School in 1974, Dr. Del Bosque continued his education at Texas A&I University in Kingsville (later named Texas A&M University-Kingsville), earning his bachelor's degree in education in 1979. He moved on to East Texas State University (later Texas A&M University-Commerce) to earn his master's degree in Student Personnel and Guidance in 1980. He began his career in education at Navarro College in Corsicana, Tx in 1980 as a counselor and the Coordinator of Special Programs. He then moved to The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, School of Allied Health Sciences as a Faculty Associate/Counselor in 1982. His 34 years at the high school/district level found him in the classroom teaching and coaching baseball, all while serving as principal at St. John Catholic High School in Ennis, Texas from 1985-1994. For 25 years, he was at Avalon ISD in Avalon, Texas, beginning as a teacher and baseball coach and then moving on to Director of Special Programs, high school principal, Associate Superintendent and, ultimately Superintendent of the district. He served as the 7th Superintendent of Avalon ISD for 17 years before retiring in 2019 after a 38-year career in education. Dr. Del Bosque served on the board of trustees as superintendent of Avalon ISD. He was the Region X representative for Texas Association of Rural Schools. Earning his doctorate degree from Texas A&M University-Commerce in 2011, the subject of his dissertation was "The Effect of Texas House Bill 3646 on Texas Public School Funding Equity." He and his wife, Neva, make their home in Ennis, Texas.
