"On a Scalpel`s Edge" is set in a medical hospital in Australia and follows the fotunes of the various personnel employed there and those with whom they come in contact such as patients.It also covers a court case dealing with medical malpractice. The main character is Professor John Taylor, head of Hazeldene Medical Centre who is joined at the centre by an attractive gynaecologist, Kerry-Ann Armstrong. Their burgeoning romance is beset by substantial obstacles and misunderstandings. Many characters play a significant part such as Jeremy Wheeler, the computer expert and Lee Lao-tze, who is a practitioner of alternative medicine. A pivotal role belongs to John`s good friend Mario Trogolo who is given the task of defending John in a medical malpractice suit. Minor characters include other doctors and patients and all their shenanigans.

Norman Jensen is a retired journalist of South African origin, now an Australian citizen. His published works include a science fiction novel, "The Galactic Colonizers" published by Robert Hale in 1971 and "White Spear" a political thriller set in Africa and the Middle East which was published in 1985 by Impi Publishers in Melbourne.
