This memoir, written by a grieving widow, chronicles the enduring marriage of a young couple through six decades of life. Robert and Sandra grew up in the 1950s. They lived in the same neighborhood in a small town located in Northern California. They married shortly after Sandra graduated from high school and Robert had returned from an overseas tour of duty in the US Air Force. They raised a family of four children and lived together until Robert's death in 2023.

About The Author

I was born in San Mateo County in 1942, but my family moved to Sunnyvale, California when I was seven years old. My maternal grandparents had each immigrated from Sicily to New Orleans where they met and married. Eventually they settled in Redwood City,California. My paternal grandparents had each immigrated from Finland and met and married in San Francisco. Eventually they settled in the Santa Clara Valley. I grew up in the 1950s when Sunnyvale was still a small town surrounded by orchards and horticultural crops. When I was eighteen you might say I married the boy next door. Actually, the Ortez family lived one house away from us. It also happened that both these houses were the exact same model. During our sixty-three years as husband and wife, Bobby and I raised a family of four children and shared a life of learning, adventure, fun and love until his death in 2023.
