Description

Myself and the Crying Sky is for readers who want to feel less alone during their struggles of heartbreak, depression, anxiety, and the ongoing aging of life. It is a deeply personal way of sharing exactly how I felt during these times when I was truly struggling, and truly debating my own life and if I could make it through what I called my own personal hurricane.

Too many people tend to feel alone, because the stigma of mental illness and heartbreak is real, and is always present.

The collection is separated into four sections: The Calm, The Gray, Anxiety Series, and The Clearing. Each chapter documents the ups and downs that life may serve you. The Calm is made up of reflections for when you are just content in life. Not exactly sad, but not exactly happy either. It's the dormant foreshadowing of the storm that is forming. The Gray depicts the lows of mental illness, a broken heart, internal struggles, and everyday worries. The Anxiety Series is made up of poems that were written in the midst of anxiety-stricken episodes, when all I needed was to write to chronicle what I was feeling, and what I wanted to grow from. Lastly, The Clearing is the aftermath of the storm. Finally being able to leave your room and take a true breath of air. It's clearing up your mind and your fears in order to love and understand yourself. This is the growth of learning to love yourself despite the storm.

About The Author

One day, an eight-year-old Ana-Karina experienced her first school poetry unit, and she simply found it fun. At 12, when she was praised for a short story about a snowy day, she realized that she loved to write. In high school, she continued to write through short stories and poems, and finally began to refine her writing style into university. All of this transformed into a style that reflects talking to yourself, deep thoughts, and story-telling.

Going by her nickname, Kara, she currently lives on the east coast, scribbling small poems and ideas at every moment that she can. She loves to read micro-history books, play story-driven video games, drink Americanos, play Monopoly, cuddle her dog, King, and spend time with her loved ones.
