Overview
Empowering book about a boy who learns to overcome his fears about the pandemic.
Description
Myles is scared of the pandemic. He cannot fall asleep. But when new animal friends show up, he discovers new ways to stay healthy, strong and level-headed during such crazy times. He falls asleep calmly, knowing he has much more than just a mask to help him stay well.
About the author
I am a mother of three daughters and have an active internal medicine practice in NYC. I believe that children lead a healthier lifestyle when empowered with facts at a younger age. I hope this book inspires your children to be more in control of the daily habits which affect their well-being.

Loved this book for teachers to share too I loved reading this book to my kids. They really absorbed it and it was the first time they saw a kid in a mask in a book - it just made their experience with masks more normalized, which honestly we needed at this time....so thank you! Our kids seem to believe in things they see in books sometimes more easily than when explained without that tool. Overall enjoyable and great writing - and the art is so fun - kudos to the artist too! I ended up buying a few more and gave it to the teachers in my kids school - thought everyone could benefit. Daughters fascinated with Miles! Me and my daughters (5 and 4) so enjoyed this book. It was the first time they've seen their lived experience of COVID reflected in a children's book and said immediately, "Mommy does Myles have a mask because of the germies?" The illustrations are so beautiful and moving with such attention to detail. I found myself tearing up on a page that shows a street with so many "Closed" signs on shops and a passerby walking in her mask. The message of the book is how to be healthy always - eat good foods, exercise and help others. But the gentleness and positive approach the author delivers this message is so affirming for kids (and adults!). It's a universal always-good-for-you message, but is particularly poignant during COVID time. At the end of the book, you feel empowered to make these healthy choices and like COVID life is a bit more manageable. :) Would recommend this book for anyone with little ones right now!! Read more

Love this book! What a refreshing take on the pandemic. I wound this book to be empowering for both parents and adults. The pictures were adorable. I read this to my grandkids and really enjoyed the discussion that followed. I think this is a good book for teachers to read to students and follow it up with a craft where the students can draw a variety of ways to stay healthy on different colored construction paper and then make one large quilt out of it, just like the animals do in the book.
