About the author
Harry V. Johnston (HVJ) went "Out West" at the start of his teens. Armed only with an 8th grade education he relied on his own resources right from the start. He learned about the West the hard way, on the cattle trails, working around ranches, busting broncs and participating in the exciting events of pioneering days in North Dakota and Montana. Gifted with the knack of storytelling and a good memory Harry brings us a real cowboy's story of the events that shaped the West. HVJ became a successful businessman away from the saddle and branding iron but he retained a great love of the West and rich memories of those eventful days.
